Law firm joins growing Net Zero partnership
A LEADING law firm is the latest business to sign up to a pioneering partnership of organisations working together to reach Net Zero targets.
Latimer Hinks, which has been established for more than 125 years, has joined the Darlington Employers Environmental Partnership (DEEP).
The partnership was formed a year ago to enable local businesses and other organisations to share good practice and knowledge on global environmental challenges.
DEEP, initiated by Darlington Building Society, now has a membership of more than 20 companies, which meet regularly to network and learn from each other.
David Laud, Chief Operating Officer for Latimer Hinks, declared: “We’re in DEEP – and we are really committed to what it stands for.”
He added: “As a business at the heart of the local community, and one that is actively developing its planning around Net Zero, we love the concept of DEEP as a collaboration focused on the responsibility we all share to contribute towards saving the planet.
“Business leaders have to come together and learn from each other if we are to make a collective difference, so Latimer Hinks is 100 per cent behind DEEP’s aims, and applauds the initiative it is taking.
“We want to inspire the younger members of our team to be involved in green initiatives, because it is about their future, and we see DEEP as something that will help them to focus on the importance of taking the right steps as a business, while also engaging with others.
“It’s all too easy to think this is someone else’s responsibility but we all have to step up, and that’s what we are doing in taking this important step.”
A key project for Latimer Hinks is investing in tablet technology to reduce the amount of paper used in the business. The company also recently signed up to the Tees Valley Net Zero, an initiative by the Tees Valley Combined Authority to support businesses on their Net Zero journey, with grants of up to £2,000 available.
Seth Pearson, Director of Darlington Cares, which provides administration support for DEEP, said: “Latimer Hinks is a long-established, trusted law firm in Darlington, but it also has a reach way beyond its hometown.
“We are delighted with the momentum that DEEP has built so quickly, and Latimer Hinks is another important addition to its membership.”
